![]() ![]() I called the AT&T Wifi Help Desk (1-88, in case anyone ever needs the number) and I might have had better luck calling the New York City Transit Authority.įirst, help desk guy told me I was using the wrong mail server setting. I left and went to Starbucks where I connected to the AT&T WiFi Hotspot using my AT&T (Starbucks) account and password. Unfortunately, this solution did not work last night despite repeated attempts and there was no one to ask for help. (When I am at home, my ISP uses authentication.) In the past, the solution to this problem was the same as at T-Mobile hotspots: you go to Tools> Send/Receive> Send /Receive Settings> Define Send/Receive Groups> All Accounts> Edit> Account Properties> Outgoing Server and then uncheck the box marked "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication." I tried connecting and although I had internet access and the ability to receive e-mails on Outlook 2007, anything I tried to send remained trapped in the Outbox. You do not have an account number or password. Their wifi requires you to first connect and then open their automatically-loaded web page and click to agree to their terms. Last night I went to a hotspot at a Cosi restaurant here. What's Thanksgiving Day without a tech problem?
